Los organizadores, encabezados por Ilques Barbosa Junior, Almirante de Escuadra, presentaron una propuesta para el Plan Nacional Mar\u00edtimo de Transici\u00f3n Energ\u00e9tica de Brasil (BMNAP). Se espera que el plan oriente las inversiones en tecnolog\u00eda de propulsi\u00f3n de buques, combustibles marinos alternativos e infraestructura portuaria, y tambi\u00e9n exige marcos de pol\u00edticas de apoyo para implementar una hoja de ruta para la descarbonizaci\u00f3n mar\u00edtima.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">La propuesta est\u00e1 bajo revisi\u00f3n y ser\u00e1 discutida durante una audiencia p\u00fablica en el Senado Federal el 22 de agosto. El BMNAP finalizado ser\u00e1 presentado al Comit\u00e9 de Protecci\u00f3n del Medio Marino de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mar\u00edtima Internacional (OMI), que se reunir\u00e1 a finales de septiembre de 2024, y ayudar\u00e1 a solidificar el compromiso de Brasil en el escenario internacional.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Antes del seminario, el Consejo Internacional de Transporte Limpio (ICCT) public\u00f3 un documento destacando el valor de un<a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/publication\/recommendation-to-develop-a-brazilian-maritime-national-action-plan-aug23\/\"><span class=\"s1\"> Plan de Acci\u00f3n Nacional<\/span><\/a> en Brasil para orientar inversiones y fomentar pol\u00edticas que apoyen una industria mar\u00edtima limpia. Destac\u00f3 la importancia de adoptar combustibles renovables y mejorar la eficiencia de combustible de la flota existente, y ambos aspectos est\u00e1n bien reflejados en la propuesta del BMNAP. Nuestro documento tambi\u00e9n destac\u00f3 el potencial de las colaboraciones entre industrias, incluidas aquellas con puertos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">En el seminario, el Secretario General de la OMI, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/MediaCentre\/PressBriefings\/pages\/Arsenio-Dominguez-Velasco-confirmed-as-next-IMO-Secretary-General.aspx\"><span class=\"s1\">Arsenio Antonio Dom\u00ednguez Velasco<\/span><\/a>, hizo referencia a los resultados del estudio del ICCT sobre el <a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/publication\/maritime-brazil-hydrogen-costs-mar23\/\"><span class=\"s1\">ciclo de vida de las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero del hidr\u00f3geno<\/span><\/a> en Brasil durante su discurso de apertura. Este y otros art\u00edculos del ICCT han iluminado la necesidad de aplicar <a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/publication\/marine-lca-fuels-apr23\/\"><span class=\"s1\">una metodolog\u00eda s\u00f3lida del an\u00e1lisis del ciclo de vida<\/span><\/a> al evaluar la sostenibilidad de los combustibles marinos alternativos. Estos estudios pueden ayudar a los l\u00edderes de la industria a priorizar la inversi\u00f3n. De hecho, los participantes del seminario destacaron el desaf\u00edo de priorizar la inversi\u00f3n debido a las incertidumbres que rodean la tecnolog\u00eda de los combustibles y la viabilidad econ\u00f3mica.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">Aqu\u00ed presentamos un breve estudio de caso del <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classnk.or.jp\/register\/regships\/one_dsp.aspx?imo=9538751\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Cape Jasmine<\/i><\/span><\/a>, un granelero que transporta mineral de hierro. Elegimos analizar una ruta mar\u00edtima larga y vital desde el Puerto de A\u00e7u en Brasil (A\u00c7U) hasta Qingdao en China (QDG) con demandas energ\u00e9ticas significativas. Al analizar los datos de 2023 del sistema de identificaci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica (AIS), construimos un hipot\u00e9tico viaje futuro de este barco, que tiene una capacidad de carga sustancial (eslora total: 292 m; manga: 45 m; puntal: 24,8 m; calado: 18,32 m). Se utiliz\u00f3 el modelo <a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/publication\/greenhouse-gas-emissions-from-global-shipping-2013-2015\/\"><span class=\"s1\">de Evaluaci\u00f3n Sistem\u00e1tica de Emisiones de Buques (SAVE)<\/span><\/a> para estimar las demandas de energ\u00eda de la ruta, que result\u00f3 en aproximadamente 15 GWh para el viaje de ida y vuelta de aproximadamente 20.000 millas n\u00e1uticas. Esto equivale al consumo anual de energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica residencial de 19.230 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epe.gov.br\/sites-pt\/publicacoes-dados-abertos\/publicacoes\/PublicacoesArquivos\/publicacao-160\/topico-168\/Fact%20Sheet%20-%20Anu%C3%A1rio%20Estat%C3%ADstico%20de%20Energia%20El%C3%A9trica%202022.pdf\"><span class=\"s1\">habitantes en el sureste de Brasil<\/span><\/a> en 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">Aprovechando una metodolog\u00eda que <a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/publication\/refueling-assessment-of-a-zero-emission-container-corridor-between-china-and-the-united-states-could-hydrogen-replace-fossil-fuels\/\"><span class=\"s1\">hemos utilizado anteriormente<\/span><\/a>, el an\u00e1lisis muestra que el uso de hidr\u00f3geno l\u00edquido como combustible requerir\u00eda dos paradas adicionales para reabastecer de combustible para completar el viaje (solo de ida). Por el contrario, el amon\u00edaco y el metanol podr\u00edan abastecer el viaje de ida sin paradas adicionales (Tabla 1). Para explorar el costo de los combustibles alternativos, nos basamos en un <a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/publication\/feasibility-study-of-future-energy-options-for-great-lakes-shipping-march24\/\"><span class=\"s1\">estudio anterior del ICCT<\/span><\/a> que compar\u00f3 cuantitativamente el costo de los combustibles marinos por varias v\u00edas. Para ser claros, solo comparamos el costo del combustible para las v\u00edas que utilizan electricidad renovable y capturan di\u00f3xido de carbono como materia prima. Adem\u00e1s, aunque el metanol y el amon\u00edaco tienen el potencial de alimentar viajes de larga distancia sin la necesidad de paradas m\u00e1s frecuentes para repostar combustible, su toxicidad inherente y la necesidad de modificaciones significativas en los barcos presentan desaf\u00edos. Como se muestra en el estudio de caso anterior, el costo tambi\u00e9n es un desaf\u00edo para los tres tipos de combustibles alternativos renovables.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">Un aspecto clave para desbloquear una transici\u00f3n hacia la energ\u00eda limpia es la sinergia en toda la industria mar\u00edtima. Eso significa colaboraci\u00f3n entre propietarios de carga, operadores de buques, puertos, proveedores de combustible, constructores navales y otros. Con el BMNAP a punto de finalizar, Brasil est\u00e1 preparado para demostrar no s\u00f3lo liderazgo en dicha colaboraci\u00f3n sino tambi\u00e9n su compromiso con los objetivos internacionales de
