The ICCT\u2019s mission is to eliminate the transportation sector\u2019s climate and health impacts. That requires transitioning to clean transportation systems around the world by bringing people together around the right policies and solutions. Enacting the principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion helps us do that. <\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s why we put those principles at the center of our organization and our work. Our programmatic work<\/span><\/h2>\n

We support policies that deliver equitable access \u2013 locally and globally \u2013 to clean vehicle technologies. From historically disadvantaged local communities to countries with still-developing economies, the clean transportation transition must not leave anyone behind.<\/span><\/p>\n

Achieving the transition will provide a wide range of health, environmental, and economic benefits. No definitions of equity, diversity, justice, or inclusion can (or should) ever be complete or final. Our understandings of these ideas change and grow over time. But these are the basic definitions we use at the ICCT to guide our work.<\/span><\/p>\n[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.21.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]\n

Justice <\/strong><\/span><\/em>is about creating a culture that promotes fairness and gives people access to resources and opportunities. Purposeful, ongoing action in pursuit of justice can build an environment where employees and communities thrive.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Equity <\/strong><\/span><\/em>means treating all people fairly. It also means ensuring everyone has access to resources and opportunities to succeed. At the same time, when we promote equity, we\u2019re working to recognize and dismantle any barriers from systems of power, privilege, and oppression that could disadvantage any group of people.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Diversity <\/strong><\/span><\/em>happens when different people come together in a given setting. Differences could include race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, class, education, marital status, language, and physical appearance. We also think of diversity in thought, perspectives, and values.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Inclusion <\/strong><\/em><\/span>is about creating welcoming and participatory environments where people feel they belong because they\u2019re respected, supported, valued, and enabled to succeed. We create inclusive environments by deciding to embrace differences in the culture we create and eliminating biases in the way we treat people.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” collapsed=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.21.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]\n
